Power restored to 22,000 homes

Around 22,000 homes in the west of Scotland have had their power restored after a transmission fault.

Supplies went down at households north of the Campbeltown area in Argyll and Bute at around 6.30pm on Friday, with the fault also hitting the islands of Arran and Islay.

Scottish Hydro engineers reconnected supply to all homes by 8.30pm.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "We would like to thank customers for their patience while repairs were carried out.

"At this time we do not know what the cause was and a full investigation will be carried out."
