Teacher struck off for incompetence

A secondary school teacher has become only the third in Scotland to be struck off for incompetence.

Gillian MacNaughton admitted a series of charges, including failing to carry out national assessments and record her pupils' progress.

A panel of the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) found her incompetence over a two-year period caused "actual harm" to the education of pupils in her care.
