Operators of the former Dounreay nuclear power plant may be prosecuted because their staff were exposed to higher-than-normal doses of radiation, an industry watchdog has announced.
The workers at the site in Caithness were moving a flask of "intermediate level" nuclear waste when they received the radiation, the level of which was said to be within statutory limits.
Nine people were involved in moving the flask late last year at the plant, which is being decommissioned by Dounreay Site Restoration Limited.
