Tories to unveil school reforms

The Tories will call for an end to the "state monopoly" of the Scottish education system.

More control would be handed to teachers under plans for independently-run state schools.

Party education spokeswoman Liz Smith said: "We need to take power away from the politicians and start trusting teachers and headteachers.
