'Map' identifies 4,000 gangsters

More than 4,000 Scots gangsters have been identified in the first "map" of serious organised crime.

Police said the criminals are working for 367 gangs in activities such as drug dealing, murder, money laundering and human trafficking.

As part of the assault on organised crime, the Scottish Government announced a £4 million package to pay for 80 new posts at the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA). The money will also fund a new Scottish Intelligence and Co-ordination Unit to continue to track crime across police forces.
