Campus cops are a hit in South Ayrshire

CAMPUS cops are proving to be a hit in South Ayrshire schools.

The majority of pupils say they’re happier reporting bullying as a result and insist it’s had an impact on pupil behaviour.

A survey of pupils, staff and the community on the first anniversary of the initiative gives an insight into its success. And it reveals that the officers’ presence at Marr College and Belmont, Kyle, and Ayr Academies has had a positive impact on the atmosphere of the schools.

South Ayrshire’s education spokesman Hywel Davies said: “I am delighted that the evaluation has provided such positive feedback on the initiative.”

Funding for the joint police and council initiative has been approved by South Ayrshire’s leadership panel for the next year.
