SCOTTISH Cup Open Boys: Marr College 95 – Gordon Schools 78.

Congratulations to the Marr senior basketball team on reaching the quarter final of the Scottish Cup. This win was all the sweeter as, due to injuries, the team had been reduced to the bare minimum of five players. Marr led 21-17 at the end of the first quarter but made a decisive run in the second period to take a 48-34 lead into the half time break. They lost the third quarter 19-21 and the visitors from Huntley reduced the deficit to six points at one stage in the last quarter. Marr were comfortable winners in the end.

Team: Daniel Muir (15 points), Chris Savage (14 points), Jordan McIlwraith (51 points), Harry Kerr (four points), Josh Hunter (11 points).

Ayrshire Under-14 league: Greenwood Academy 18 – Marr College 60.

CONGRATULATIONS to Rachel Whittle who has been selected to represent Scottish schools in the under 16 indoor international being held in Cardiff, with teams from Ireland and Wales competing.

S4 pupils enjoyed one week in a workplace where they experienced what it is like to be in the world of work. Several workplaces reported that pupils showed maturity beyond their years.

SENIOR pupils, accompanied by staff members J Sharkey, L Sharkey and J Nelson, went to Courmayer in Italy for their ski trip. Everyone enjoyed this excursion.

Friday, February 20: A Burns celebration for senior citizens of Troon will be held in the school library, where they will be offered hospitality and entertained with drama, music and song.
