Whitletts Primary reading festival

WHITLETTS Primary held an enterprise event recently and this was used as a special reading festival for the pupils.

Primary 6 organised a very successful book exchange with pupils bringing in unwanted books. They swapped them for vouchers which they used to purchase new books.

They also received a voucher and pencil from Waterstones.

Primary 4/5 designed and made bookmarks to sell. They also organised a competition for all classes to design a bookmark.

In primary 2/3 the pupils designed and helped to make a reading teepee, and decorated it. They now use the teepee as a quiet place to read a book when they want to.

In primary 7 the youngsters wrote, illustrated and made storybooks and storybags for primary 1 pupils. They then read their stories to their ‘buddy’ in primary 1.

Primary 1 have also been busy all week writing lyrics for Christmas songs. The songs will be made into a CD and sold at Christmas.
