A VERY warm welcome is extended to all new staff for this session.
Congratulations to Mrs Laing and Miss Mitchell on their full time appointments in the Chemistry department, Mr Wilson in Physics and to Miss Geddes on her appointment within the History department. We also welcome Miss McColm in Design and Technology, Classroom Assistant Mrs Hume, Mrs Bryden teacher of English, Mrs Steel and Mrs McFadden in Pupil Support.
IN EARLY August, pupils received their SQA results. Overall, Prestwick Academy were very pleased with the standard of awards. Well done to all S6 pupils who achieved the grades required for University and College courses.
DURING the summer holidays, progress in the new school was moving forward at a tremendous pace and we now have many classrooms complete with desks and chairs. The outside of the building is now finished with all scaffolding removed. Landscaping in the playgrounds areas has now commenced..
CONGRATULATIONS to Lisa Alcroft (S4) who represented Scotland at the World Baton Twirling Championships and International Cup in Limerick, Ireland during the holidays. Lisa competed against athletes from 22 member countries, including Japan, France, USA and Australia. In the International Cup competition, she finished 29th in the Solo event and made it into the finals of the team event, finishing overall 7th. In the World Championships she finished in 13th place for both Junior Pair and Team. She also had the honour of carrying the Scotland flag in the World Championships closing ceremony.
