Ayr's Wellington school at top of exam league table

AYR’S Wellington School is the tops for Higher results this year.

The independently run school has come top of this year's exam league tables with a Higher pass rate of 97.2 per cent for S5 pupils.

Delighted head Mark Parlour said: “We are full of praise for the hard work of the pupils and the dedication of all our teaching staff.

“We're a small school with 580 girls and boys from age three to 18. All pupils are known individually and we have very high expectations of them in all areas. In addition, there is a very strong relationship between parents and staff which breeds a family atmosphere. Discipline and ethos are also strong.”

The new figures came from the Scottish Council of Independent Schools.
