Auchinleck Academy win readers' cup

AUCHINLECK Academy are officially the top bookworms in East Ayrshire.

They won the fourth annual inter-schools final of the Readers’ Cup quiz, held at Cumnock Academy.

Teams of four pupils represented eight East Ayrshire secondary schools in a fun but challenging quiz designed to test their knowledge of book and writers. The supporters accompanying the teams also had the opportunity to show their knowledge by taking part in questions between rounds.

All eight teams scored well with St Joseph’s Academy taking second place and Cumnock Academy just edging Kilmarnock Academy for third place.

Auchinleck Academy’s team was presented with the winning cup by Councillor Jim Roberts, Spokesperson for Lifelong Learning, and Education Liaison Officer Pat Standen. The top three teams also received a gift of book tokens provided by East Ayrshire School Libraries.

Every participant received a goodie bag containing items donated by major publishers and East Ayrshire Library Service.
