Masonic lodge saves the day for Queen Margaret Academy

A MASONIC lodge stepped in to rescue a day out for pupils.

Lodge 1060 at Prestwick heard that money raised by pupils had gone missing.

And lodge master Iain Hull handed over £160 to the Extended Support for Learning Department, based at Queen Margaret Academy.

Every year, pupils raise cash themselves to pay for a day out at a local garden centre.

But when money disappeared, the special day out was to be cancelled.

Iain visited the department, along with his depute master John Trousdale and senior warden Robert McLauchlan.

And after a guided tour by principal teacher Jane Happs, they were delighted to hand over a cheque for £160.

The pupils’ plight was brought to the attention of lodge treasurer Alex Whannel by Liz Robertson who works at the school.

Iain said: “It has been a real pleasure to be here today and we are grateful to Liz for giving us this opportunity to help.

“We are all impressed by the amount of work the teachers achieve, and I hope the lodge will be able to provide further funding in the future.”
