Memorial service for tragic Kyle Academy pupil Andrew Young

SENIOR pupils are currently planning a memorial service for Andrew Young, who sadly died in June last year in a tragic accident.

The event will be a celebration of Andrew’s life through reflection, music, images and poetry.

This will take place in the new assembly hall from 3.45pm to 4pm on Tuesday, June 10. Parents, past pupils, friends and local community members are most welcome to attend.

STAFF and pupils will soon be saying a fond farewell to Mr Pirie, principal teacher of physics, who has retired this week.

A GROUP of staff and third year pupils set out to conquer the heights of Munro Ben Lomond last week, to raise funds for our planned trip to Peru next summer to support the street children there. Congratulations to all who took part and raised £670 for the fund.

The trip was organised by Mr McKenna of the mathematics department.

To assist with the fundraising, biology teacher Mr Davidson completed his own personal challenge, and certainly added to the entertainment on the day. In training for a triathlon in Germany this summer, Mr Davidson cycled to the top of the mountain and back, and then ran to the top and back - and all in six hours!

IT is with pleasure that we can once again report on the continuing achievements of our rugby players, Jackson Rountree and James Stirling. The lads have now been selected to attend the Scottish Rugby Development Camp at Struan in July.
