May 28 2008 BELMONT ACADEMY, Ayrshire Post
THE large party of pupils who travelled for a long weekend in London have now safely returned after an exhausting but very worthwhile four days in the capital.
Thanks to all members of staff who organised and led the party – Mrs Walker, Mr Pugh, Mrs McInnes, Mrs Muir, Mrs McLean.
A LARGE number of parents attended an educational evening where the principal speaker was the nationally recognised educationalist Mary Pirrie.
ALL first year pupils have been issued with their reports and all of the staff at the school have been impressed by the quality of work produced by these young people.
NOW that the third year exams are complete teachers are marking and completing reports prior to them going to guidance staff and then Mr Moir.
THE Parent Council met last week. Jill Logan, the treasurer, gave a report on the healthy financial position that the council is currently in. This of course is because the council plans to support a major initiative in the new school building and so funds are being accrued to meet potential costs.
THE Parent Council also planned out arrangements for the open night on Monday, June 9, where former pupils can come to the academy from 7pm to 9pm and see over the school buildings they remember prior to them being demolished once we move into the new school.
