South Park School gets own minibus thanks to donations

THANKS to generous donations from parents, the community, and Nestlé in Girvan, the kids of South Park School, Ayr, can continue to be transported by their own minibus to numerous educational activities.

Depute head, Bernadette Casey said: “Nestlé’s sponsorship couldn’t have come at a better time as one of our two minibuses went for its MOT recently and simply didn’t return from the garage.

“We’ve recently been down to one vehicle which is really not enough to cover the needs of both our primary and our secondary department, which has curricular links to Ayr College.

“We had applied to the Variety Club Children’s Charity as we knew our bus really needed replaced and they matched us up with Nestlé, who were looking for a suitable cause to support.

“Over the past year we had received generous donations from parents and people in the community, amounting to £9000.

“This gave us the money that the school needed to contribute under this charity scheme.

“It’s thanks to Nestlé Girvan’s employees that we could take delivery of this specially equipped minibus so quickly, as they donated the remaining £24,000, which was absolutely marvellous. We can’t thank them enough.”
