A MOTORCYCLIST from Ayrshire died in a road crash on Saturday.
Lindsay Graham Keir, 55, from Dalrymple, was riding his BMW when the accident occurred around 5.15pm.
Police say he was heading west on the A71 between Strathaven and Drumclog when he was in collision with two cars travelling in the opposite direction.
Mr Keir, who lived in Dalrymple’s Barbieston Courtyard, died at the scene.
The drivers of the cars – a Seat Ibiza and a Renault Clio – were uninjured, although badly shaken.
Police say enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
And any witnesses are asked to contact traffic police in Motherwell on 01698 483000.
Mr Keir is understood to have two daughters, who both live in the Borders area.
He himself came from the Borders to Dalrymple a few years ago.
A neighbour said: “He was a very pleasant man, well-liked by everyone round about.
“It’s tragic what has happened.
“And a great shame his daughters will have to come here in these circumstances to sort out their father’s affairs.”
