THE A77 south of Girvan, at Shalloch Park will be closed this weekend from Friday, May 16, at 7pm until 7pm on Sunday, May 18.
Due to the narrowness of the road it must be completely closed to allow Amey personnel to work safely.
A clearly signed diversion via the A714, A75 and A751 will be in place while the work is carried out.
This particular stretch of the A77 carries over 2500 vehicles daily, 16 per cent of which are HGVs.
However, with the holiday season approaching the volume of traffic may increase with golf enthusiasts and travel to caravan parks becoming more popular.
Andy Smart, Amey’s route manager based at the Ayr depot, explains: “The road has become worn over time and now needs to be resurfaced.
“Over 500 metres of carriageway will be replaced to varying depths between four and 20 centimetres.
“The diversion route in place is quite lengthy.
“We urge all road users to ensure they leave plenty of time to reach their destination.”
