Ryanair axes daily flights from Prestwick to Cork

RYANAIR has axed its daily service from Prestwick to the Irish city of Cork.

The low fares airline blamed a price hike across the water for the route being chopped.

Flights will stop on October 28.

Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary blamed a 20 per cent increase in charges at Cork airport which led to the Prestwick and East Midlands routes being cancelled.

Mr O’Leary said: “Ryanair cannot and will not absorb a 20 per cent increase in costs just to keep loss-making routes open at a high cost airport like Cork.”
