Prestwick patients take to the road with cabbies

PATIENTS from Biggart Hospital in Prestwick have been on the road again thanks to the drivers from Ayr Black Taxis.

The kind-hearted cabbies gave up their time to take the patients for their annual outing along the Ayrshire coast.

Ten taxis and an escort of staff, relatives and friends made sure the 30 patients and staff taking part travelled in style. The taxis, decorated with bunting, took the day trippers along the coast, stopping for cakes and light refreshments, before heading to Coylton for a slap-up meal.

Mary McGinn, associate nurse director, said: “We want to thank Ayr Black Taxis for their continued support for Biggart Hospital. This was the seventh annual outing and our patients really enjoyed their trip.

“Some of our patients don’t manage to get out and about very often and an outing like this can really make their day. They’re already looking forward to next year’s trip.”
