New grant is good news for students

STUDENTS are this week eligible for a £500 funding boost.

And Ayr MSP John Scott says it’s excellent news for those at Ayr College and the University of the West of Scotland.

He said: “From this week students working on 50 per cent or more of a full-time course are eligible for a £500 part time higher education grant.

“For many people considering going into part time education, the ability to pay fees can be a real barrier.

“And this new grant should help overcome that obstacle.”

The MSP pointed out that the University of the West of Scotland has the highest number of part-time students in Scotland.

And a large number of Ayr College students are also part-timers.
