Learner driver nabbed in Girvan

A DOPEY learner driver was caught behind the wheel when eagle-eyed cops spotted he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.

Allan Brain didn’t have a qualified driver in the car with him when police pulled him over in Girvan’s Duncan Street on March 21 this year.

And neither did jobless Brain have any insurance when he made the pricey blunder.

He was fined £400 at Ayr Sheriff Court this week after pleading guilty to the offences.

A defence lawyer for 27-year-old Brain, who lives in the Hamilton Arms in Girvan, said: “He should have known better.”
