A CRUEL drunken yob threatened to murder his sister after pinning her to the wall by her throat.
Paul Murdoch brutally attacked his sister in their house just three days after his mother allowed him to come home.
He pleaded guilty to the assault when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
Depute fiscal Erin Campbell told Sheriff Douglas Brown that boozed-up Murdoch came back to his mum’s house in Cumnock at around 4.30pm on June 30 this year. An argument with his sister kicked off in the kitchen and he ran at her, grabbing her throat and pinning her up against the wall.
The vicious thug then punched his sister in the head before screaming: “It’s not long until you’re buried, watch your back, I’ll murder you.”
The siblings’ frantic mum tried to pull him off her and the mother and daughter managed to bundle the 23-year-old out the back door of the Carsgailloch Avenue house and phone police.
Defence lawyer Robert Logan said that Murdoch had been staying in a hostel before his mum allowed him to move back home.
Mr Logan continued: “In the weeks leading up to this he was having difficulty with contact with his child. He sought solace in alcohol.
“On this day, he was standing outside on the phone with his child’s mum regarding contact. He came in very distressed and drunk.
“He’s apologised profusely to his sister and is very ashamed of his actions. Both his mother and his sister are anxious to get him home.”
Murdoch was sentenced to 12 months’ probation and 150 hours of community service.
