Musician Jamie reveals T in the Park dream

An Ayrshire singer is setting his sights on stardom at this year’s T in the Park.

Jamie McGeechan reckons he can crack Scotland’s biggest music festival after landing a top industry award.

The Ayr songwriter was crowned Best Acoustic Act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

And the title is set to open new doors for a man who says he’s finally ready to make the big time.

Jamie, who performs under the stage name Little Fire, said: “This could be a defining moment for my career.

“A lot of influential people are involved in these awards and being nominated was a feat in itself.

“Some of Scotland’s biggest radio DJs support the competition and their presence gives it a lot more clout.

“Hopefully my name will now be known on a more mainstream basis and my dream is to perform on the T Break stage at T in the Park this summer.

“You’ve got to aim high and I firmly believe I can do it. This award merely gives me the confidence.”

Jamie’s victory at The Garage last Friday night means the prestigious award is staying in Ayrshire, after Brown Bear and the Bandits took the title last year.

And it was a top musical night for the region, with Irvine band Culann winning the Best Alternative Rock prize.
