THE Royal Family are to go racing at Ayr next week.
Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, will be guests of honour when Scotland’s biggest flat festival comes to town.
Prince Charles and Camilla will head to the Craigie track on Friday, September 21 for Ladies Day.
The William Hill Supporting Dumfries House Race Day is expected to attract around 6000 punters.
The fixture, the middle day of the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival, will raise funds for Dumfries House, the stately home and estate on the outskirts of Cumnock, saved for the nation by the Duke.
Alan Macdonald, chairman of Ayr Racecourse, confirmed: “It is a great honour to have the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay attending a meeting at Ayr Racecourse.
“We are delighted to play a part in helping raise funds to support the various projects at Dumfries House.”
