LADIES and gentlemen, it’s Google and Thumper.
Google is a big (but not overweight) four-year-old tabby, while wee pal Thumper (mostly white with patches) is a three-year-old polydactyl.
This means Thumper has extra toes on his feet, which make no difference to his health or mobility.
Polydactyls are sometimes called ‘mitten cats’ or ‘Hemingway cats’ because the great writer loved to have them around his home at Key West in Florida, where there is still a well-cared for colony.
Google and Thumper are both neutered and must stay together as they have a strong bond.
Thumper is rather shy to start with, but when he gets to know you he will ‘talk’ away to you.
Both are very friendly, and Google will plonk himself on your newspaper or computer keyboard until he has been satisfactorily cuddled.
Charity Cats’ Protection is looking for a home where they can both get outside access.
But preferably not in the immediate Prestwick area as it would be likely they will try and return to their previous home.
Google and Thumper are currently fostered in Pinmore, south of Girvan, if anyone would like to meet them. Both fully vaccinated and microchipped. Cats’ Protection South Ayrshire has moved to new premises at 5 River Street in Ayr.
Call 08453 714216 and please leave a message if you don’t get an answer, as volunteers are still in a bit of a guddle, following the move.
The charity remains on the lookout for potential fosterers to help with a list of cats coming into care.
