PRESTWICK is set to rock this summer when it launches its first ever music festival.
Prestfest will be held from Friday, August 3 to Sunday, August 5.
Organisers say the Bank Holiday weekend event will cater for all ages and musical tastes with something for everyone to enjoy.
Rock bands, folk acts, acoustic acts, jam sessions, an air guitar competition, educational music workshops plus The Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra will be just just some of the exciting events on offer.
Driving force behind the venture is Lynn Arnott who is also secretary of the Prestwick Business Association.
Lynn, who owns ladies fashion shop Emporium, is chairperson of the organising committee.
Lynn said: “Live@Troon is a successful music weekend while Ayr has music events as well. The idea grew for Prestwick to do something of its own.
“Lots of venues in Prestwick already do their own thing. Now the idea is to pull everything together and make it a great weekend.
“Prestwick Main Street is a lively place with a lot always going on. We are hopeful this will take off and follow other successful town events like Lighting Up Prestwick and Promenade Day.”
Among the venues set to put on events are The Eagle, Red Lion, Flanagans, Elliots, Golf Inn, Pleasantfield, Prestwick Indoor Bowling Club, The Pinewood, Murray’s Cafe, the 65 Club, Prestwick Cricket Club and The Space Place. And others could follow.
A committee has been formed to organise the event. And they have set up a Facebook page at Prestfest Prestwick.
The organisers are looking for all types of bands, musicians and solo artists to perform. All types of music is welcome.
Interested parties should email email@example.com with their details and links to their music.
