ARE you ready to get fit for Vanessa?
That’s the challenge we’re setting big-hearted Post readers who will descend on Ayr town centre.
Our special fundraising event, which takes place this Friday, is set to transform the street outside our offices in Nile Court.
And scores of fundraisers have pledged to get active in a bid to help the cause.
A stellar cast, including Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall and Vanessa’s dad Chris, will line up to take part.
And you can be part of the fun as well – just by making a donation on the day.
You can join a team of professional instructors from Bannatyne’s gym, who’ll be holding a series of fun fitness classes in the street.
Whether it’s zumba, body combat or just stretching on the spot – there will be something for everyone.
And even if fitness is not your thing, there will be plenty to keep the crowds occupied, with musical entertainment from a top acoustic line-up.
Renowned guitar man Just Like Eddie will lead a brilliant bill of buskers under the famous archway, with Ayrshire stars Little Fire and Alan Frew sure to entertain.
The event, which starts at 12.30pm and runs until 3.30pm, aims to raise as much as possible for Vanessa so she can have cancer treatment in America.
Dad Chris laughed: “I’m ready with my Spandex and will happily get dolled up if it means raising money for Vanessa.
“She’s already having a good laugh at the thought of me taking part – there’s nothing like having the support of your children!
“We can’t wait to be involved in another great event and, by the sounds of it, a lot of people will be there on the day.”
The fun day has won the backing of numerous businesses, including Ayr’s Smalltown Audio, who are donating a stage and PA system. And kind-hearted bosses at Prestwick Sainsbury’s will be shipping in free water and bananas for all who take part.
Chris added: “The level of support for events like these never fails to astound us. If anything, the pace of the campaign seems to be picking up rather than slowing down.
“We had one person donate money the other day who said they’d just heard about Vanessa’s plight after a tweet by Jai.
“So it just goes to show how the campaign is still reaching new people all the time.”
To get involved on Friday, head to Nile Court for 12.30pm – and go armed with cash to donate!
