MORE than £27,000 has been raised for Save the Children from an annual art exhibition.
Some 4000 people visited the 18th exhibition, sponsored by Murphy Financial, during the four weeks that it was open.
This year 145 artists exhibited 396 paintings of which 139 were sold.
The money made came from the sale of paintings, raffle tickets, sale catalogues and Christmas cards.
It means the exhibition has made more than £300,000 since it began.
Each year, a competition is sponsored by the Revie family.
The Willa Revie award is presented annually in memory of Willa Revie, an influential member of the original art committee who died of cancer.
The award is a wood carving displaying children which was created by her daughter Lyn
Revie.
Peter Foyle, of the Framework Gallery in Troon, won this year’s competition with a peaceful painting of Tranquility, Crinan.
Lyn presented Peter with the trophy and prize at the opening of the exhibition.
All of the painters involved in the exhibition donated 40 per cent of their sale to Save the Children.
Adrian Murphy, associate partner of sponsors Murphy Financial, said: “It is a privilege for Murphy Financial to be able to support such a great cause.
“The work that Save the Children does both at home and abroad is absolutely essential in the fight against child poverty.
“It also gives us the opportunity to support our local artists.”
