AN ACCOUNTANT whose life fell apart after he became an alcoholic is back behind bars.
Alastair Kennedy never appeared in court until 1999 when he was 41-years-old.
By that time, he had lost his high-flying career and his family and was on the path to a life of crime.
Kennedy’s latest offence was kicking off after his partner rejected him.
He was jailed at Ayr Sheriff Court this week for 163 days.
It came after Kennedy pleaded guilty to acting in a threatening manner, shouting, swearing and refusing to leave his partner’s house in Dalrymple.
Depute fiscal Scott Toal explained to Sheriff Norman McFadyen that Kennedy and the woman have been in a relationship for 12 years but live separately.
At about 5pm on October 29 this year, Kennedy phoned his partner asking if he could visit.
He went over with a bottle of vodka and sat in the Dalrymple house drinking.
Mr Toal continued: “At around 9pm the accused made certain amorous advances towards the complainer, but was rebuffed.
“That led to him losing his temper and accusing her of having sex with other men.”
The woman asked Kennedy to leave but he refused and only went when her son came to her house to assist his mother.
Kennedy’s defence lawyer Ian Gillies told the court: “Mr Kennedy has a horrendous drink problem. He accepts he behaved in the manner described.”
However Mr Gillies went on to explain that it was Kennedy who contacted police claiming he had been assaulted by his partner and her son.
Following his own arrest he was taken to Crosshouse hospital where a scan showed that he had a broken jaw.
Mr Toal told the court that Kennedy’s claim of assault was investigated, but nothing came of it.
Mr Gillies added: “It seems some of summary justice was meted out.”
Kennedy, of Ayr’s Macadam Place has been jailed over spats with the same woman before.
Last year he was jailed for four weeks after screaming abuse at her on the day her mother died.
It came just weeks after being released from a four month sentence for claiming to be an undercover cop as he tried to get into a young mum’s house armed with a chisel.
