SHE’S used to organising a festive fair to earn some charity cash.
But Valerie Ferguson really took the plunge for Ayrshire Cancer Support.
The Ayr teacher slid down a zip slide from a height of 150 feet on Prestwick Promenade.
And thanks to the support of her family, friends and church members she raised more than £1000 in the process.
Plucky Valerie is no stranger to daredevil stunts.
She took on a parachute jump a few years ago and has also embarked on a zipslide over the Clyde from the Finnieston Crane.
But her next stunt will see her get back to keeping her feet on the ground.
For Valerie is getting back to organising her annual Christmas crafts and coffee afternoon.
The annual event regularly pulls in around £1000.
Kath Provan, Ayrshire Cancer Support head of fundraising, paid tribute to Valerie.
Kath said: “Valerie is a breath of fresh air whenever you meet her and is so good at encouraging people to become involved. I think it's very hard to refuse when she's so enthusiastic about everything she does.”
Ayrshire cancer support provides transport and counselling to families living with cancer.
Valerie’s Christmas craft fair is in Cathcart Street Church Hall in Ayr on Saturday, November 12 between 2pm and 4pm.
There will be a variety of craft stalls and entry is only £2 and includes tea or coffee and some homebaking.
