cinema round up july 22

THIS week’s big release should come with a warning for anyone who is a boss – as it may leave them feeling slightly nervous.

Horrible Bosses (12A) sees Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell play three nightmare bosses who make their employees’ lives a living hell with their outrageous behaviour.

Fed up workers and best friends, played by Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis, all decide that they have had enough and conspire to murder their awful bosses.

And here is where the black comedy begins.

At times it is cringeworthy watching the bosses in action – Aniston plays a man eater who sexually harasses her male staff at every given opportunity, providing a lot of these moments.

But the friends’ murderous plot snowballs into disaster.

Any fans of fast cars should go and see Cars 2 (U).

It follows racing legend Lightning McQueen, voice supplied by Owen Wilson, and his trusty sidekick Mater as they secure their passports and take part in the biggest race on the planet.

As the first-ever World Grand Prix approaches, cars from every continent prepare for the ultimate competition.

But who will have what it takes to become the fastest car on the planet?

Just as Lightning McQueen edges up to the starting line, his old pal Mater gets sidetracked on a top-secret spy mission that takes him from Japan to Europe as the entire world watches.

Thankfully Mater’s friends are always willing to lend a helping wheel and as the race gets under way, everyone shifts into high gear to help out an old friend

Slowing down the pace is Beginners (15) starring Ewan McGregor.

The film explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through main character Oliver, played by McGregor.

He meets the unpredictable Anna, played by Melanie Laurent, just months after his father has passed away.

This new love floods Oliver with memories of his father in this enchanting look at human life.

Other films worth catching this week if you get the chance include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (PG), the super hilarious Bridesmaids (12A) and Kung Fu Panda Two (U).
