Cinema round up July 8 2011

ONE of the most anticipated cinema releases hits the big screen this week.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Two (PG) is the eighth and final instalment in the series.

The story continues to follow Harry Potter on a quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes.

Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, set out with the dangerous mission in their quest to find these items responsible for Valdermort’s immortality.

But as the mystical Deathly Hallows are uncovered, and Voldemort finds out about their mission, the biggest battle begins and life as they know it will never be the same again.

The supporting cast features Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and Maggie Smith.

Potter fans will be lining the streets to see this, the final offering from the boy, nay, man wizard.

If that’s all a bit too far fetched then romantic comedy Larry Crowne (12A) could be more up your street.

Larry, played by Tom Hanks, was a superstar team leader at the big-box company where he’s worked since his time in the Navy.

Underwater on his mortgage and unclear on what to do with his suddenly free days, Larry heads to his local college to start his life again.

There, in his public-speaking class, Larry develops an unexpected crush on his teacher Mercedes, played by Julia Roberts, who has lost as much passion for teaching as she has for her husband.

And so the pair become close and go on a journey of self discovery together.

The Tree of Life (15) is a moving story surrounding the life of main character, Jack.

It begins with him as an 11-year-old boy in the Midwest.

The film charts his life until he becomes his own man.

Starring Brad PItt and Sean Penn, it is a thought provoking and at times, dark but compelling film.
