Cinema round up

HE BOUNCED on to our screens three years ago as we watched him become a warrior.

And now Po, the cinema world’s favourite panda is back for a second installment, Kung Fu Panda 2 (U).

This sequel finds the newly anointed Dragon Warrior who has the voice of Jack Black, teaming up with The Furious Five to safeguard the Valley of Peace.

But when a new adversary launches a treacherous bid to seize control of China and obliterate the martial arts, Po must look back to his enigmatic origins in order to unleash his true potential, and defeat his most powerful opponent to date.

And the witty lines and comic capers are free flowing with other voices supplied by an all-star cast including Dustin Hoffman, Gary Oldman, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Angelina Jolie.

Honey 2 (PG) is another sequel set to be a smash hit with the teen cinema audience.

It follows dancer and choreographer Honey Daniels with a new star, Maria Bennett, played by Katerina Graham, taking on the lead role.

After a brush with the law, Maria has returned to her gritty Bronx roots to rebuild her life with nothing but a talent for street dance and a burning ambition to prove herself.

Keeping on the straight and narrow means living with Honey’s mum Connie and holding down a job just to make ends meet. But a rare night out at a local dance club gives Maria an opportunity to let loose with a joy and energy she had almost forgotten.

Like Honey before her, Maria rediscovers the thrill of dancing as she finds out who she truly is and where she belongs.

Other films to try and catch this week include The Hangover 2 (12A).

This sequel to 2009's hit follows hapless trio Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis once again finding themselves having to piece together the events of the night before, after a drunken stag night in Thailand.
