AN ADVENTUROUS trio drove around Scotland in a classic car to raise cash for charity.
Ray Hall, his brother Keith and friend Mike, who describe themselves as all on the wrong side of 60, drove around the country in Ray’s 1965 Morris Mini Moke.
The 61-year-old said: “We made the journey in nine days and the car was perfect, very reliable.
“I’ve owned it for many years, I think there are only 400 left in existence.”
The three gents left Ayr on May 5 with Ray and Mike, 67, in the Mini Moke and 65-year-old Keith driving the back-up car and towing a caravan.
Ray, from Straiton, explained: “We just bought a scrap caravan before we left and Keith would cut out part of the route, go ahead and find somewhere for us to stay at night.”
The boys are hoping to raise £5000 for Ayrshire Hospice, and it is a cause close to their hearts.
Ray’s sister-in-law passed away in November after a battle with cancer and the hospice were a great help and support to the family.
Kind Ray simply said: “I just wanted to give something back.”
The men closed off their adventure by leading off the Ayrshire Hospice Midnight Walk, but the fund raising isn’t over.
Ray, Keith and Mike have raised over £3000 so far but are keen to reach their target and hope the people of Ayrshire will get behind them.
