Ayrshire film crew embrace the future

IT’S the amateur film company with a professional approach.

And for one group of friends, the future is looking very bright.

Led by Colombian cameraman Alberth MG, this is a crew ready to go places.

Grasping the new age of technology, the lively mix of colleagues have set about creating their own production team.

Everything from music nights to short news clips are filmed by the intrepid gang as they tour around Ayrshire.

And they believe they’re on to a smart thing.

Alberth, 30, insisted: “The future is the internet. Places like YouTube will take over from television and thatis why we’re doing what we do.

“By filming our videos, we are putting so much content out there that people from around the world can now access.

“We started by filming the acoustic nights at Su Casa in Ayr. It’s a great place to meet different people and that’s where we all came together to form the group.

“We stream the videos live on the internet and have people watching around the world.

“One girl had been watching in Canada and travelled all the way here just to see Little Fire after watching him on our stream.”

Along with their acoustic night videos, the group have begun a series of informative news features called Scotland Talks.

Featuring interviews with Ayrshire personalities and businesses, the clips are aimed at promoting local culture.

Alberth said: “I first created Elgato to send videos of my son back home to my mother.

“I called it Elgato, which means cat in Spanish, because that was my nickname as a child.

“The idea has grown to the group we have now and it’s like a small family. I firmly believe that, in time, it can even be abusiness.”

Eileen Frater, another member part of the Elgato group, added: “We’re even making a short film and the possibilities for this kind of thing are endless.

“The power of social networking and the internet is so big these days. Within minutes, you can have events announced and create a huge amount of interest.

“It is definitely the future.”
