On the hunt for Prestwick UFOs

UNIDENTIFIED Flying Objects.

Or UFOs if you want to be sexy about it.

One of life’s great unknowns and the kind of subject that divides opinion the world over.

Are you a believer, a sceptic – or do you just not care?

Either way, there’s nothing like weird lights in the night sky to spark a bit of interest.

And that interest has peaked this week with the release of top-secret files from the Ministry of Defence.

Detailing thousands of UFO sightings from around the UK, this is serious stuff for the strange light enthusiast.

And it seems that our very own Prestwick is a hotbed of unidentified drama.

Reports have been piling into the MoD describing a series of strange goings-on in the clouds.

Right enough, the cynic would say our international airport attracts its fair share of light antics.

But that would be the boring view. So let’s press on.

According to one witness, who penned a particularly panicky letter to the MoD, there was action near the airport in 2003 that needs further exploring.

They wrote: “There was a fluorescent green UFO, saucer shaped.”

Oh, business is about to pick up here.

The witness goes on: “The pilot could not have missed it as it was level with (the plane) but say 50 feet away to its left as they passed each other. The UFO started to tilt slowly downwards.”

The resident, in a bid to lend weight to their claim, insisted they were speaking “hand on Bible truth”.

But the MoD remained cool-as-ice in their response, saying: “Thank you for your two letters.

“The contents have been noted and placed on our departmental files.”

Judging by the amount of UFO chat on the internet, this stuff is big business.

And it would appear that many respected individuals have come forward to make their own claims.

Television shows like the X Files have become huge hits on the back of such phenomenons.

They call it the hush culture – we’ll never truly know what’s going on up there in the world we call sky.

But hey, it’s probably better that we didn’t.

Being oblivious is way more exciting.
