Pedal power raises cash for Ayrshire charities

PEDAL power has turned into a wheel of fortune for three Ayrshire organisations.

More than 20 members of staff from Ayrshire-based Land Engineering raised £3270 taking part in the annual Pedal for Scotland event.

Representatives from Ayrshire Cancer Support, The Lighthouse Foundation and Ayrshire Sportsability expected cheques for £1090 each when they turned up for a presentation at the firm’s Fenwick HQ.

But there was an extra surprise in store in the shape of an additional £1000 each – courtesy of the company.

LE Construction Director Stuart Dillett said: “The directors were so impressed by the efforts of our staff that we decided the company should also dig deep for our nominated charities. The result is an extra £3,000 for them to share.” Ayrshire Sportsability’s Dianne Campbell said: “We work with children and young people with a disability to help them take part in new, exciting sports. This money will help to fund one of our festivals next year.”

Ann Porter from Ayrshire Cancer Support, added: “We sincerely appreciate being chosen by Land Engineering as one of their nominated charities.”

The LE cyclists were: John Macdonald, Stuart Dillett, Jim Dillett, John Owen, Tommy Bell, Graeme Hadden, Euan Thomson, Ian Wilkinson, Wilson Hilditch, Mark Seymour, Paul Robinson, Michael Liddell, David Milne, David Irvine, Mitchell Ferguson, Peter Hood, Barry Black, Richard Egan, Tony Smith, Andy Dickson and Alan Robertson.
