l KILMARNOCK and Loudoun Ramblers head to Cumbrae for a C+ grade walk of nine miles this Saturday, July 17.
From the ferry terminal, Margaret Dunbar will lead the group on the inner circle walk to the highest point of the island, the Glaid Stone, where wonderful views can be obtained, and on down to Millport passing the Cathedral of the Isles.
From Millport Pier, the route continues on the Targets Walk, past Sheriffs Port and on to Fintry Bay, then back down again to Millport via the fields, with great views of Bute and Kilchattan.
The group will make their way back to the ferry via Kames Bay and Ferry Road. Quite a bit of road walking, but nonetheless a very pleasant outing.
Anyone interested in joining the walk should be at Kilmarnock College car park by 8.50am to leave at 9am for the 10am ferry. Ferry leaves every 15 minutes and costs £4.15. Please let the leader know if you intend to meet the group at the ferry.
For all enquiries, phone Margaret on 01292 317434.
