AYRSHIRE HOSPICE RAISEDSS £”$&

THE first community event to be sponsored by Sainsbury’s – with a donation of £5,000 – was the second Ayrshire Hospice Land o’ Burns Midnight Walk in May.

Hospice fundraising manager Louis Jardine went to the new store last week to reveal to staff the event had raised a massive £242,717.

“Over 1600 people helped to raise this magnificent sum. While not only being main sponsors for this event we are also grateful to Sainsbury’s Prestwick store for fielding a 14 strong management team – including manager Marc Watson – who took part. Their team effort raised a further £2000.

“It’s absolutely incredible all our walkers managed to raise such a tremendous sum and especially in this continuing, very difficult, economic climate.

“Whilst this is a very large sum indeed it’s worth reminding everyone that we require to fundraise over £4million – in the current year alone – to enable us to provide all of our services at the hospice and within the community,” said Louis.

“The efforts of everyone who participated is greatly appreciated.

“A very special thanks to all who assisted us with both their financial and practical support.”
