ONE of professional wrestling’s biggest stars is heading for Ayr.
American grappler Val Venis, who usually performs in front of millions on TV, will top the bill at the Citadel leisure centre.
Venis – who was a top level star with WWE in the States – is headlining in Ayr next Friday, May 28.
And he’s set to bring the house down for independent wrestling company BCW, who say Ayrshire fans are in for a treat.
Promoter Colin McKay admitted: “It’s absolutely huge for us to get a name like Val Venis in Ayr.
“This guy was one of WWE’s biggest names for years and we jumped at the opportunity to have him on one of our shows.
“We like to promote young, local talent and believe in giving the homegrown wrestlers their chance – that will never change.
“But when a name like Val Venis is offered to you, you’re always going to say yes.”
Venis will be main event material when BCW stage their Citadel supershow – their second Ayr event in recent months.
Colin added: “We stage shows around the country but there’s a lot of interest in Ayrshire and the wrestling fans down here love it.
“We also have a couple of Ayrshire wrestlers on our roster – Logan Storm and Noam Dar – and it’s definitely an area which does good business for us.
“Our first show in Ayr attracted a good crowd and we’re hoping that with Val Venis on board, this next show will be even bigger.”
Tickets are priced £10 for general admission or £30 for a family of four. Gold ringside seats are available at £20 and include a meet and greet session with the wrestlers.
Tickets are available from the Citadel on 01292 269793.
