A SUPERMARKET security guard is being treated for stab wounds following a robbery at the store he works in.
It’s alleged that two men made off with a five figure sum of cash following an incident at the Tesco store in Auchinleck.
Police were called to the scene at around 11.30pm last Tuesday night.
The 52-year-old security guard’s condition is described as stable.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the robbery.
James Hughes, 31, from Rothesay, and Gavin Howie, 27, from Drumchapel have been charged with assault to severe injury and robbery.
Hughes has further been charged with resisting arrest and two police assaults.
Both men appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court and were remanded in custody.
However, detective sergeant Russell Andrew from Kilmarnock CID is still appealing for witnesses.
