Care packages improved in South Ayrshire

CARE packages for young and old are enhanced in the budget.

And an extra £1.5 million will support older, younger and vulnerable people across South Ayrshire.

This includes extra for the physically disabled and elderly (£350,000); children with support needs (£226,000); learning disabled adults with older carers/families in crisis (£528,000); and extra foster carers and child care officers (£244,000).

Councillor Nan McFarlane, leader of the SNP group, has special responsibility for social services.

She said: “The 2010-11 budget provides additional investment for older people, in-house home care services, equipment for physically disabled and older people, and additional support for adoption services.”
