THERE was good news for athletics in the council budget.
For Ayr’s Dam Park running track is to get a new surface.
And it will also be re-lined in an £80,000 project.
Glen Harrower of Ayr Seaforth said: “This is good news for the town, good news for the club, and good news for athletics.
“We have some under-17s who will be serious contenders to represent their country in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.”
Other sporting spends include £20,000 to restore a sprung floor in Ayr’s Citadel leisure centre.
And the council has found £12,000 (Tarbolton) and £10,000 (Dailly) to help towards running costs of village activity centres.
