Ayr man admits hitting man with hockey stick

A YOUNG thug smacked a hockey stick off a man’s arm so hard that the stick snapped in two.

Scott Davidson screamed that he was going to take Thomas Mitchell’s head off before he swung it at the victim.

At Ayr Sheriff Court this week, Davidson, 22, admitted attacking the man in Drongan’s Sinclairston Drive on July 14.

Depute fiscal Hayley Robertson told the court that Mr Mitchell was in his home at around 11pm when he heard shouting coming from the street.

Mrs Robertson added: “He made his way into the street and noted the accused on the roadway.

“He stated ‘I’ll take your head off’ before swinging the hockey stick directly at his head. He put his arm up to shield his head.

“The stick broke on contact and cut his elbow.”

Davidson’s defence lawyer told the court the jobless Davidson had an altercation with his 39-year-old victim the day before.

Sheriff John Montgomery sentenced Davidson, of Drongan’s Watson Terrace, to 12 months’ probation.
