Fizzy favourite is back

IT’S one of Scotland’s most missed products.

But a new version of Creamola Foam is now on sale in Ayr.

So how does it compare to the original favourite?

Well, that’s for you to decide.

But shop boss Jacqueline Kirkpatrick and daughter Samantha seem to be enjoying it.

The new product is called Kramola Fizz.

And it is available in the Kirkpatrick family business Sugar Candy, in Ayr’s Kyle Centre.

The original Creamola Foam was made by the old Scottish firm who made Creamola Custard.

It was taken over by Rowntree, who in turn were taken over by Nestlé, and the product was discontinued in 1998.

But the story goes that someone found an unopened tin in Orkney.

This was analysed and copied by Alan McCandlish of Cardross.

But he can’t use the Creamola Foam name because of copyright laws.

Hence the launch of Kramola Fizz, which has even been welcomed in the Scottish Parliament.

Jacqueline Kirkpatrick’s husband Charlie said: “It’s quite expensive at £3.99 a tub.

“But the stuff that causes the foaming comes from tree bark, and it’s quite pricey.

“We are one of only half a dozen outlets who are selling it.”
