Cruel yobs wreck headstones

CRUEL yobs went on the rampage in a graveyard and wrecked scores of headstones.

Nine gravestones have been torn down and damaged in a Cumnock cemetery at the weekend.

But police are warning that they are determined to track down the mindless idiots responsible for the disrespectful crime.

Sick vandals went on the spree in the Glaisnock Street cemetery sometime on Friday, January 22, or Saturday, January 23.

Inspector Derek Ireland, from Cumnock police office, blasted the culprits.

He said: “This incident is both disgusting and callous and those responsible must be caught and held to account for their actions.

“Their total lack of respect is beyond belief and my thoughts right now are with the families involved and how they must feel about this sickening incident.”

And he warned: “My officers will be doing everything possible to detect these crimes, however someone out there knows exactly who is responsible and I would appeal to them to get in touch.

“If needs be, any information can be passed to us anonymously or by contacting Crimestoppers”
