A THIEVING accountant’s assistant has started paying back the thousands of pounds she stole from her employers.

Deborah Leishman conned almost £20,000 from Mercedes Benz in Ayr’s High Road within a year.

But her scamming was eventually uncovered and Leishman, 28, ended up in the dock at Ayr Sheriff Court.

She earlier pleaded guilty to stealing £19,500 between March 12, 2008 and February 14, 2009 while she was employed as an accountant’s assistant.

This week she was back in court with more than £4000 of the cash she owes.

Sheriff Colin Miller deferred sentence on Leishman, of Stevenston, for six months for her to continue repaying the money.
