A BRUTE who attacked his partner and his dad has avoided a prison sentence.
Thomas Lauchlan punched the woman before turning on his own father and kicking him in the face.
Lauchlan and his partner of 19 years had been for a night out before the chaos ensued at their Auchinleck home on November 29 last year.
At Ayr Sheriff Court this week, Lauchlan was ordered to carry out probation after earlier pleading guilty to two charges of assault.
The court was told that Lauchlan’s parents had been babysitting the couple’s three children while they were at a party.
At around 1.45am, Lauchlan and his partner arrived home in a taxi.
Lauchlan seemed to be aggressive, so his concerned partner went upstairs out of his way.
When she came back downstairs, he punched her in the face.
As Lauchlan’s father intervened, he turned on him and kicked him in the face.
Both victims ended up with black eyes.
Defence lawyer Robert Logan told Sheriff Colin Miller: “He had too much to drink and bitterly regrets his behaviour towards his partner and his father.”
Sheriff Miller ordered Lauchlan, of Arran Drive, to carry out 12 months’ probation.
