A FATHER and daughter indulged in an incestuous sexual relationship months after being reunited.
Stephen Paterson, 43, didn’t even know Kirsty Paterson existed until she turned up on his doorstep two years ago.
But soon after they met, the pair had sex in her home and in a bed and breakfast. They even referred to each other as ‘daddy’ and ‘daughter’ in explicit text messages.
The illegal affair was uncovered by Stephen Paterson’s suspicious wife – who isn’t related to the young woman.
At Ayr Sheriff Court this week, Kirsty Paterson sat in the dock as the details of her relationship with her father were read out.
Kirsty Paterson, now 26, was adopted when she was a tot and raised in Lanarkshire.
But she tracked down her birth parents in Girvan and started an affair with her father soon after.
The pair have now been charged with incest and could be jailed over their sexual relationship.
Depute fiscal Gail Harding told Sheriff Carole Cunningham that both have pleaded guilty to having sex with each other on two occasions.
The first time was at Kirsty Paterson’s house in Kirkwood Place in Girvan and the other was in a Prestwick guesthouse, when they had already been ordered by a court to stay away from each other.
Mrs Harding said: “Over the last couple of years she has had contact with her father and his family and friends.
“Her father’s wife became uncomfortable with the relationship.
“She is the account holder of both her’s and her husband’s mobile phone. The network provider is O2 who have an internet facility which allows access to the inbox and outbox of the mobile phone.
“On June 7, 2009, she activated an account and uncovered messages sent to and from her husband’s phone.
“The series of text messages indicated that the two were engaged in a sexual relationship.”
Stephen and Kirsty Paterson were both interviewed by police and told to stay away from each other until the court had dealt with the case.
But the pair were spotted in Prestwick by a former neighbour of Stephen Paterson on June 20.
They were later detained and admitted having sex in a guest house in the town.
Sheriff Carole Cunningham deferred sentence on Kirsty Paterson to call alongside her father next month.
