A COUPLE were still trapped by ice this week.
But at least some help has reached Colin and Gwen Crampton.
The Ayrshire Post last week revealed the Cramptons’ plight in their moorland home, south of Barrhill.
And a national newspaper sent emergency rations.
A neighbour with a Land Rover has also been able to bring them vital supplies.
But South Ayrshire Council has so far failed in its attempts to deal with the ice sheet that has trapped Colin, 65, and Gwen, 67.
The council is being blamed for creating the ice, following ditch-clearing work which led to water on the road.
Council workers have been back to try and rectify the situation.
But there is still a massive foot-thick glacier on the U102 single track road, near its junction with the A714 Girvan to Newton Stewart road.
Colin said on Tuesday: “We still can’t get out. The ice remains treacherous.
“No council officials have been in touch, although Councillor Alec Oattes is trying to get something done.”
